The city of Brest is located on the very north west tip of France in the Finistère of Brittany. It is a coastal town and port well known among the sailing community. Brest has a proud maritime history. From sailing, to military, to cargo ships. Located in a sheltered position not far from the western tip of the Breton peninsula, Brest, with over 300 thousand inhabitants, is by far the largest city in Finistère. The town is most well known for its Pont de Recouvrance (a massive drawbridge 64 m high), the military arsenal and the rue de Siam (Siam Street). However the Castle and the Tour Tanguy are the oldest monuments of Brest.
