Dinan is located in the north eastern part of Brittany, south of St Malo and Dinard and north of Rennes. The name Dinan is believed to have come from the combination of the Celtic words 'Dunos' and 'Ahna' meaning hill of Ahna, goddess of the living and the dead. The myriad of old narrow cobblestone streets and old medieval timbered buildings is well worth taking time to see especially Rue du Jerzual linking the port with the old town and the wonderful views of the port and the huge viaduct from the Jardin Anglais.
