Cannes is an open display of the French Riviera in its most extravagant form. It is the location of the two week Cannes film festival with its eccentric visitors and is a showpiece of modern indulgence. You can take a 15 minute boat trip from the old port to Iles de Lerins to visit the old monastery, walk through the pine and eucalyptus woods or swim off the rocks.

This town is not for the shy or retiring type of personality a sit has glitz, luxury, promenading as is for those that want to be seen. It probably all started back in 1834 when Lord Brougham built a palatial villa here and started inviting friends. He aristocracy then followed in their droves and Cannes developed into the ‘place to be’. Later a bikini clad Bridgette Bardot again brought attention to this once fishing village.
