The town of Valbonne in Provence, south of France, is hidden among the hills that surround it, and is located just a few kilometres from Cannes and Antibes on the Cote d'Azur. The town is medieval with the church of Valbonne erected in 1199 and which has been restored in a Roman style. This location has been frequeneted by tourists since Princess Margaret holidayed here in the early Sixties. The chequered layout of the village is the work of the monks of Lérins who reconstructed this area. In the centre of the village is the "Place de Arcades" which is surrounded by houses with archways under which many paved passages can still be found.

Opposite the Town Hall there is an old fountain and a watering place and in "Le Moulin des Artisans", rue de la Paroisse, is an art gallery and a studio where the glass maker Lourmani can be seen at work.
